'Wonderful, wonderful fun at Bee in the Woods. Both the kids (5 and 1) love coming and there is something for each of them. Simone is enthusiastic and makes every session fun!' - A Happy Foredown Mum
Join our monthly Forest School sessions for all the family. Mums. dads, brothers, sisters, grannies and grandads - there's something for everyone!
We will be gardening, building, creating and bee-utifying our woodland camp as the months go by - with plenty of projects to get involved in for those who like get stuck in. There will also be plenty of mud, stories, play and adventure for little ones, the chance to learn new skills (from foraging and firecraft to tool-use) for the bigger ones and plenty of hammock swinging and tea drinking for the ones who like to relax and take in the view.
A campfire cook-up will be a big part of the sessions, with seasonal treats and tasty grub included and the chance to make something to take home.
Foredown is our 'wilder' site where you really feel like you are getting away from it all - without having to travel out of Brighton & Hove! The woods are attached to the allotments below Foredown Tower and so are not generally open to the public - making this place quite a secret hidden gem! Our Foredown camp is based around a fire circle, where we have license for small campfires to cook on. There is a wooded play area with a mud kitchen, dens and rope swings as well as a beautiful wildlife pond.
From the A293, head onto Fox Way, Portslade. Once on Fox Way, take the first right onto Bush Farm Drive, then the next right onto Thornbush Crescent. Follow Thornbush Crescent all the way to the end until you reach some iron gates. These are the allotment gates - you can either park in the small carpark inside the gates, or parking is free on the street outside.
Once inside the allotments, head left along a straight track through the allotments. We are at the very end - look out for the flag!
Here is a map to Thornbush Crescent.
