The Team

Lucy Collins

As a lifelong adventurer and treehugger, Lucy has been delivering Forest School and outdoor learning sessions for over 15 years through organisations in Sussex and Bristol.  Keen to offer forest school sessions locally to children in Brighton & Hove, Lucy set up Bee in the Woods to connect childhood with local nature.

Never tiring of dens and mud pies, Lucy also works as a freelance practitioner for other organisations and runs a weekly forest school session at Wilderness Woods.

Lucy hold’s qualifications in Forest School Practitioner Level 3, Education and Training Level 3, Forest School First Aid and training in Beach Schools, Child Protection, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Horticultural Therapy, Wildlife First Aid and Woodland Management.

When Lucy’s not at forest school you will find her building lego spaceships with her two young sons.

Simone Thorn

Simone is a qualified Level 3 Forest School Leader, Ofsted registered Childminder and qualified in Homebased Children and Safeguarding. She lives in Portslade with her husband and three children. A keen storyteller (and chatterbox!), Simone has always had a love for the outdoors and nature. She is passionate about giving young people the opportunity to play outside and reminding parents of the wonder and magic young people can experience in woodlands

Chloe Chow

Chloë has always loved the outdoors. She is also an enthusiastic believer in creative education, so when she discovered Forest School she was instantly smitten. She started volunteering in as many Forest Schools as she could, while she studied and qualified. Chloë’s enthusiasm for nature and the environment coupled with her background in education, mean that she relishes each session. She loves having the opportunity to encourage children to play freely and creatively outside, watching them grow in confidence. Chloë is married with three children. She is a Qualified Teacher, Level 3 Forest School Leader and First Aider.

Lorraine Perks

Lorraine is a qualified teacher, with 7 years experience in the classroom. She has always been passionate about environmental education and giving children opportunities to experience and connect with their natural world. Lorraine is committed to delivering outdoor learning through innovative, hands-on experiences that help develop independence, confidence and the ability to work as a team. Furthermore, she strongly believes that the National Curriculum can taught creatively through the outdoor classroom and loves coming up with imaginative ways to inspire children and foster a life-long respect for their local environment and the planet. After all, it will soon be in their hands. Lorraine lives in Hove with her husband and two young children and LOVES travel and adventure!

You may be newly qualified and would like to develop your skills, you may be thinking about Forest School as a career choice and want to find out more, or you might just love the idea of getting outside and about with groups. Either way, we would love to hear from you!
